Hiker Suffers Medical Emergency on Mt. Hale in Bethlehem

Bethlehem, NH – On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at approximately 7:15 p.m., the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department was notified of a hiker who had collapsed on the Mt. Hale Brook Trail in Bethlehem. The information provided was that a male hiker had been located unresponsive on the trail, and lifesaving efforts were being attempted. A rescue call was made, and volunteers from Pemi Valley Search and Rescue Team and Conservation Officers responded to the trailhead.

Rescuers hiked about 1 mile up to the trail and located the hiker. Unfortunately, the hiker did not survive. The Pemi Valley Search and Rescue Team and Conservation Officers then carried the hiker down the trail and arrived at the trailhead at approximately 10:30 p.m. The name of the hiker is being withheld at this time until family members can be notified.
