Injured Hiker Carried off Artist Bluff and Bald Mountain Loop

Franconia, NH – On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at approximately 1:20 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified of a hiker who had fallen and suffered an injury preventing him from walking. The hiker was on the Artist Bluff and Bald Mountain Loop Trail about .5 miles from the trailhead when the incident occurred.

The hiker, identified as Namit Pandey, 42, of Apex, NC, had been hiking with family for the day. When the call came in a Conservation Officer responded to the area to attempt to assist Pandey down the trail. After evaluating the injury and the wet slippery terrain, a call was made for a carryout. The PEMI Valley Search and Rescue team along with other Conservation Officer’s responded to assist the injured hiker.

Pandey was placed in a litter and carried down the trail, arriving at the trailhead at 3:29 p.m. Pandey was evaluated and then transported by Littleton Ambulance to Littleton Regional Hospital for further medical treatment.
