Clarksville, NH – On Friday, October 9, 2026, at approximately 5:09 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified of a dropped 911 call on an OHRV trail in the town of Clarksville. At 5:23 p.m., a passing rider came upon a UTV that had rolled over and discovered that the operator had been injured and then called 911. Pittsburg Fire and EMS, 45th Parallel EMS, and a Conservation Officer responded to the scene of the crash.
The crash occurred on the Snack Shack Trail near access to Clarksville Pond Road. The operator, identified as Irene Bitrose, 53, of Granby, MA, had suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. She was operating a rental UTV and also had a passenger who sustained minor injuries. With the help of Pittsburg Fire and EMS and 45th Parallel EMS, Bitrose was transported from the scene to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital (UCVH) in Colebrook for treatment of her injuries.
After an on-scene investigation, evidence showed that Bitrose was travelling north on the Snack Shack Trail. When attempting to navigate a right-hand corner, Bitrose lost control of the UTV causing it to fish tail. The UTV then flipped over into a ditch on the side of the trail and came to rest on its side. The passengers phone dialed 911 due to the impact at the time of the crash.
Although the crash remains under investigation, speed appears to be the leading contributing factor. New Hampshire Fish and Game would like to remind all OHRV riders to always wear protective equipment and always obey speed limits.
